I was at the Milan derby last Sunday - I don't think English football has ever been like that!

Ha. Love it. This is just down the road from me. But to be honest most football games are now played on artificial pitches here.

I've played Rugby on some pitches like that here as well.

Brilliant eusebiovic, thanks for posting

Especially loved the guy taking the corner and stumbling in the puddle and the bloke that washes his hands in a puddle before taking the throw in

Whose big mama is on kit-washing duty?

They're DIVING over the place.

Fortunes

It does look that way but you have to remember that in North West Spain it rains and even snows a helluva lot in the winter months - so they need a bloody good reason to cancel games otherwise none would get played at all.

I'm in Seville currently

Last Sunday we went to see Betis vs Barcelona

Fantastic 60000 seater stadium, terrific atmosphere, everyone sang

I hate what English football has become

Remember loads of games like this... and when pitches were like concrete through the ice... never done us no harm...

Now... you get a bit of water in the goal mouth and it's OFF...

Loved that, proper pitch!

Even at the level I referee players and managers only want to play on bowling greens which might explain why over 400 games have been postponed this season to date.

I refereed one game this season where the left wing was a little boggy and the opposition Manager wanted it called off! Health and safety he said, players welfare etc etc

Man up!

southbank

I remember playing in a thunderstorm of hailstones just down the hill from Crystal Palace at the Orchard Playing Fields.

Sadistic games teachers from our respective schools made both teams stay on the pitch and ride out the worst it could throw at us. I can't remember enjoying it much at the time but can you imagine that happening now?

It would be on London Tonight as one of the lead stories!

Re: Some OLD SKOOL footie from Non-League in Northern Spain
Love it.

Reminds me of all too many school games!

On a school sports trip to France in the early/mid-1980s, we played a local team in a torrential downpour. The game was a one-sided mess - we had to be told to ease up on the French. I thought I'd scored at one point, when I place the ball firmly under the keeper - only for it to stop dead in a fuck-off sized puddle in the goalmouth. My quick-thinking mate ran around the keeper and nicked the goal before I could - and I've never forgiven the cunt!

He's on this messageboard, somewhere.
